ADS Tech Dual-Link FireWire/USB cardbus- not in OS 9
Fri, 01/16/2004 - 17:06
The advertising material for the ADS Tech Dual-Link DLX-181 FireWire/USB 2 cardbus PCMCIA card was misleading as of late 2003. It says that this card will work in OS 9, but it doesn't. One of the two (FireWire or USB 2) doesn't work in Mac OS 9.2.2. Sorry, I can't recall which doesn't work, I think it was FireWire. (This was a few months ago.)
I confirmed this with their tech support in late 2003, after many calls back-and-forth. They now admit that it is not fully functional as advertised. At first they said that my particular card was broken so I returned it to them for repair. They then took a few weeks to look at it before they determined that it was working as designed, but the spec sheet is wrong. The manual does not mention the Mac OS anywhere.
So, they sent me two cards to replace the DLX-181, one for FireWire and one for USB.
If you have this card and are concerned, call them:
