iTunes 7 and Album Artwork: Not saved in the Song File

I've been investigating the fact that with version 7, iTunes has added a new feature to download album artwork. But, the artwork is not added to the file. Instead, it is saved on your hard drive in the user's Music -> iTunes -> Album Artwork folder.

If you later move the file to another computer, you'll lose the artwork. So, how can the artwork be put into the file permanently?

Here's a good overview and some ideas:

To summarize the workaround for multiple files:
In the Artwork tab for one song, select and copy the artwork. Now go back to iTunes' main window and select all the songs in the album. Get Info for all of them at once. Paste the artwork into the Artwork box. But... what if you only have one song?

Bummer if your metadata doesn't match that of the corresponding track in the iTunes store: "If what you have doesn’t agree with what iTunes has, you may not get your art."
