On 11/18/11, Tony Brooke recorded The Silent Comedy at Revision3's San Francisco studio. This acoustic performance took place when their tour took them through Northern California. Watch the HD videos below, by clicking on the rate control (the gear icon) to choose the highest rate.
Tony positioned the musicians carefully to capture them with one excellent mic, the Neumann U87 set to be omnidirectional. With one omni mic, levels are set by adjusting distances from the mic (watch the singers approach and back off of the mic). As this is a risky technique, you might spot the safety-net stereo pair of Neumann KM184s positioned behind them. This pair was only used at very low levels to give a bit of stereo image.
If you look closely at the HD version, you can see the white stickers which say "Silent Way" and "Tony Brooke" on the mic.
